Corona-virus is a respiratory virus spread by person to person contact that began affecting service at the Rye Free Reading Room in mid-March, 2020. Following the local school system, county (library system), state, and many parts of the country, the library closed temporarily to the public. 

People stayed home during the quarantine phase of pandemic response and the library pivoted to virtual programming via platforms such as GoogleMeets, Zoom, and Facebook Live, and began showcasing our many digital offerings, such as:
