Tuesday night the Rye Free Reading Room’s Board of Trustees approved funding public service hours Thursday morning’s though 2012. The library had planned to close both Tuesday and Thursday mornings based on increasing costs and flat City of Rye support. Community contributions to the library’s 2011 Annual Campaign along with savings not impacting collections and public service staffing has enabled the library to remain open Thursday mornings.
The new schedule ensures 7-8 hours of service six days per week, library services every day after school with new opportunities for teen services. Renovation and repurposing of the library’s 2nd floor will bring a new Teen Center and updated reading and meeting spaces in early March. The project is funded through private donation and NY State grant.
The Rye Free Reading Room 2012 hours beginning February 1st are:
Monday 9:30-5:30, Tuesday 1:00-8:00, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9:30–5:30 Saturday 10:00-5:00
This event sponsored by the Rye Free Reading Room.
