Two generations of culture will come together on Saturday, March 28th to celebrate creativity and creation with a concert conducted and arranged by Jordan McLean; Music for Renaissance Instruments composed by avant garde Mauricio Kagel. Cyn will introduce the concert with a reading on the creative inspiration of growing up without fences in Mamaroneck, where Jordan now lives.

“Natural Preservation” - Art on Healing Through Nature. Growing up in Mamaroneck in the nineteen fifties and sixties, there were no fences. Our large yard, lined with fruit trees, raspberry bushes and roses extended into the next yard and the next. Then down the hill to the river, which runs into the harbor.

As a Rye Neck Panther, I spent free afternoons prowling around The Rye Marshlands Conservancy. Most of the images in the oil paintings for this art exhibit were inspired by the Marshlands. My profound reverence for nature originated from my surroundings in my formative years. Nature as playground and playmate was fertile ground for an active imagination.

And now, nature merges with my life as a painter. I travel between my art studio in midtown Manhattan and my off the grid barn in the woods in the mountians upstate. Realizing my place in nature, then realizing the imagery in my painting, I heal on every level, every day.

Whatever challenges life presents can be healed through time and time spent in nature.
