Meet Library Elf: Your Personal Library Reminder Service

Are you constantly trying to keep track of what you – or your kids – have borrowed from the library?  Do you hate paying fines because you forgot when your material was due? Would you like an email or text-message alert when a book you put on hold becomes available? If so, Library Elf can help!

Designed with the busy or avid library user in mind, Elf is ideal for families with multiple library cards or for individuals who have cards from different libraries.  Like a personal assistant, Elf can help keep track of what you have on loan from the library.

With Library Elf, you can:

• Schedule due date reminders and hold alerts for when you want them
• View due dates in a convenient calendar format
• Get notices as cell phone text messages or e-mails
• Consolidate your accounts from several different libraries
• Consolidate the library accounts of all your family members
• Receive email and/or RSS alerts before items are due
• Receive email and/or RSS alerts when holds become available

How do I get it?

Registering with Library ELF is free and easy. Rye Free Reading Room cardholders can

click here to sign up, or go to www.libraryelf.com, click on ‘Sign Up’, and then just follow the on-screen directions. Be sure that ‘NY-Westchester Library System’ is selected from the drop-down list of libraries, and have your library card handy. If you want to receive notifications for other family members, you’ll need their library card barcode numbers, too. The Westchester Library System does not use PINs for online catalog access, so just leave the field labeled ‘Library Card PIN’ blank.
